Photo Walks Venice is a project by René Seindal, who lives, works and photographs in Venice.
René Seindal comes from Denmark, but lives in Venice for almost 10 years. Fragments of his past are also scattered in other places around Italy: in the Marche, in Rome and in Palermo.
He now lives in Venice for over ten years with Martina, his Venetian wife, and their two dogs Stella and Giubba.
Photographically his passion is street photography, mostly in black and white. Water and boats tend to feature prominently too, and, of course, Venice and the Venetians.
René has a M.A. in History and Italian from the University of Copenhagen, and a B.Sc. in computer science and mathematics. He is also an authorised tour leader (accompagnatore turistico) in Italy.
René is on the board of the Venetian photographic association Marco Polo Fotografia. His photos has been exhibited in Venice and elsewhere on various occasions. A collection of his photos is available online at Venice Street Photography.
His native tongue is Danish, and he speaks and writes English and Italian fluently.
History and Boats
Besides photography, René has a passion for history and everything past. This has found an outlet in History Walks Venice, which offers unique bespoke walking tours in Venice and boat tours in the lagoon, with a focus on the history of Venice..
René is also a keen kayaker and rower, and generally enjoys fooling around in boats. He teaches Venetian rowing at Be Venetian, and owns more boats that he has spaces to keep. He is also on the board of the small Venetian cultural rowing association Soralai.
